Health and Nutrition

A recent summer ended at the Brompton Square Apartments with an astonishing number of very well-fed children. Through the "Good Neighbor Program" Health and Nutrition services, in collaboration with the City of Houston’s Summer Food Program, Brompton Square Community Center was able to give out a total of 3,360 lunches, feeding as many as 100 kids each day.

Parents were given the chance to socialize with other families as their toddlers ate a free lunch and played in a designated play area. Elementary-aged and middle school-aged kids showed up in large numbers, excited to have somewhere to go during the summer. Teenagers came not only to have lunch, but also to hang out, play with the younger kids and assist with organized games.

The summer lunch program is something the families in the area look forward to every year. Without it, many would struggle to feed their children during the summer months. Many more would not be able to add nutritional value to the type of lunch they could afford. It was a huge success and something Brompton Square is proud to be able to provide to the hundreds of families in the area.

  • We partnered with the City of Houston to feed over 3,000 children delicious, nutritional meals.
  • Parents were given the opportunity to socialize with other families.
  • Toddlers enjoyed playing with other children, while school-age kids were provided a safe, fun place to hang out.
